Marble cave medusa drops and petrification ward
Dropped by the serpentine Medusa in subterranean Marble biomes with a 2.5% chance in Classic mode and 5% in Expert mode. Equipping the Pocket Mirror grants full immunity to the Stoned debuff, preventing Medusa's gaze from freezing the player in place and causing lethal fall damage if struck mid-air while traversing deep cavern chasms. Because petrification freezes mobility and magnifies kinetic impact, nullifying the Stoned effect prevents sudden deaths while mining marble deposits or navigating vertical cave chasms.
Reflective shades crafting and ankh shield lineage
Prior to obtaining this mirror, fighting in marble caves poses severe risks of sudden death from petrified falls down vertical shafts. At a Tinkerer's Workshop, the mirror combines with a Blindfold to assemble the Reflective Shades. Combining it into reflective eyewear safeguards spelunkers against optical hazards across subsequent cavern farming. This pairing was added to the Ankh Charm crafting tree in Terraria 1.4.4, making it required for the defensive Ankh Shield upgrade.
