Purchased directly from the Merchant for 60 silver coins, the Sickle serves as both an agricultural utility tool and a melee weapon. When swung at wild surface grass or weeds, it cuts the vegetation and converts it into Hay blocks rather than destroying it. It swings at 24 use time, dealing 9 base melee damage along with 2.25 knockback against hostile targets.

Farm building utility and melee combat viability

The primary role of the Sickle is gathering extensive quantities of Hay, which can be crafted into Hay Wall background tiles or rustic thatched roofing for farm structures. In combat, its damage output is modest compared to metal broadswords like the Gold Broadsword, but its quick swing speed provides adequate defense against weak surface slimes. It can be reforged to Legendary to improve its swing speed and harvesting area.

• Cutting grass with the Sickle produces Hay, allowing players to build rustic thatched roofs and farm animal pens.
• In Hardmode, the Sickle is superseded by the Ice Sickle and Death Sickle, which project projectile scythes.
