Stationary ambushers in underground sand dunes
Antlions lurk embedded inside sandy funnel pits throughout the Desert and Underground Desert biomes. Incapable of walking or repositioning, they anchor themselves firmly in place while scanning for approaching explorers. With 45 health and 6 defense in Classic mode, they act as stationary artillery, launching high-arcing sand projectiles directly toward intruders who step near their nesting pits.
Evading sand volleys and harvesting mandibles
The sand blocks launched by Antlions deal 10 damage in Classic and 20 in Expert, often piling up physical blocks that clutter mining paths. Defeating these entrenched insects offers Antlion Mandibles at a 33.3% rate in stacks of 1–2, which are vital ingredients for brewing Mining Potions and crafting early desert gear. They also drop the Banana Split at a 2% chance.
Trivia
- Antlions cannot move from the spot where they spawn.
- Sand projectiles fired by Antlions can turn into solid sand blocks upon landing.
