Buzzing aerial predators patroling fossilized desert hives
The Antlion Swarmer is the airborne counterpart to desert ground crawlers, populating the chambers of the Underground Desert. Armed with 60 health and 8 defense, it hovers on buzzing wings before swooping down at acute angles, dealing 29 contact damage (58 in Expert and 87 in Master). Its flight allows it to bypass ground pits and spike traps that hinder running players.
Controlling airborne antlions with piercing weapons
Because Antlion Swarmers frequently travel in small flights through cavern bottlenecks, wide-swinging swords like the Blade of Grass or ranged bows with Jesters Arrows work well to fend them off. Defeating them yields Antlion Mandibles at a 33.3% chance (1–2 units), the Mandible Blade at 2%, and the Banana Split food item at 2%.
Trivia
- Antlion Swarmers will occasionally land on sand blocks to rest briefly before taking off again.
