Desert sand-swimming predators breaching during sandstorms
The Sand Shark is a terrifying subterranean predator that swims through loose desert sands during Hardmode Sandstorms. Featuring 360 health and 20 defense, it glides through sand blocks as though swimming through water, suddenly leaping out of dunes to deliver 50 contact damage (100 in Expert and 150 in Master). Its airborne leaps catch running players off guard amidst blinding sand squalls.
Dodging subterranean dune breaches for shark fins
Engaging Sand Sharks from elevated platforms constructed from solid wood or stone prevents them from swimming directly beneath your feet. Slaying a Sand Shark yields Shark Fins at a 12.5% rate for crafting potions and ranged armaments, Nachos at 3.33%, and the decorative Sand Shark Kite at 4% during windy weather events.
