Bone Serpent in Terraria

Enemy Banner: Bone Serpent Banner

Mighty serpentine dragons once ruled hell, but long ago shed their obsidian scales. A skeletal husk is all that remains.

Skeletal behemoths of the underworld abyss

Bone Serpents are gargantuan segmented worms that glide through the ash layers and lava lakes of the Underworld. Composed of multiple articulated skeletal segments, they burrow through solid ash and burst into open caverns without warning. The serpent sports 300 health and 12 defense, using its segmented body to encircle players attempting to construct horizontal boss runways.

Piercing skeletal segments across lava lakes

Combating a Bone Serpent requires weapons with piercing capabilities or swinging broadswords to damage several segments simultaneously. Their heads inflict 36 damage in Classic, scaling to 72 in Expert. Defeating this underworld predator yields the Hotdog food item at a 3.33% rate, alongside the decorative Bone Serpent Kite at a 6.67% drop chance.

Trivia

  • Bone Serpents can swim through lava reservoirs without suffering any burn damage.
  • Only the head and tail segments deal maximum contact damage.
