The Rune Wizard is an exceedingly rare spellcaster that materializes in the deep Cavern layer, appearing as a prismatic counterpart to Tim. Dressed in glowing rainbow robes, he teleports throughout subterranean chambers while conjuring radiant runic projectiles. He possesses 600 health and 30 defense.
Surviving lethal contact and claiming prismatic robes
The Rune Wizard possesses immense contact power, dealing 200 damage in Classic, scaling to 400 in Expert and 600 in Master mode, instantly killing unarmored explorers. Slaying him rewards the player with the vanity Rune Hat at a 100% rate and the matching Rune Robe at a 100% rate, creating a trail of colorful sparks as you walk.

- The Rune Wizard deals some of the highest raw contact damage of any pre-Plantera enemy in the game.
- Defeating the Rune Wizard always yields both pieces of the decorative Rune vanity set.
