Seed 12345: an Enchanted Sword below spawn

Published · measured on Terraria 1.4.5.8 worlds

Most worlds make you dig for an Enchanted Sword. In seed 12345, made as a Small Crimson world, the nearest sword shrine sits 286 ft from where you spawn: 20 ft east and 86 ft below the surface. That is close enough to reach on the first night with a copper pickaxe and a stack of torches.

The world was generated with Terraria 1.4.5.8's own world generator and measured tile by tile, so every distance on this page is what the game builds. Open the interactive map to follow along. Compare this with other best seeds.

The sword shrine

Walk a few steps east of spawn and start digging down. The shrine is 20 ft east and 86 ft below the surface, inside the small cave the game carves around every shrine. The world has 2 shrines in total, so if the first one turns out to be a decoy without a sword, the map shows where the other one is.

An Enchanted Sword this early changes the first hours of a playthrough: its beam reaches enemies before they reach you, and it carries you through the Eye of Cthulhu and the evil biome without crafting much else.

Hermes Boots and a double jump

The same dig pays twice. A Gold Chest with Hermes Boots is 8 ft west and 34 ft below the surface, only 232 ft from spawn, and a Cloud in a Bottle waits 36 ft west and 204 ft below the surface in another Gold Chest. With both you move faster and jump higher before the end of the first day.

If you want more copies, the world holds 5 chests with Hermes Boots and 9 with a Cloud in a Bottle; the map's Find panel lists them nearest first.

What else the world offers

For a slower start, the locked Dungeon chests on the east side hold a Muramasa and a Cobalt Shield once you have beaten Skeletron.

Questions

How do I make this world in Terraria?

Create a new world, choose a small size and the Crimson, and type 12345 as the seed. You can also paste the copied seed 1.1.2.12345, which sets the size and evil for you. Difficulty does not change the map.

Is it the same on Windows PC?

The layout, the dungeon and the ores are the same on every platform. Windows PC runs Terraria as a 32-bit program and can place a few caves and chests differently, so check the map with Played on set to Windows PC before you dig.

Can I download the world instead?

Yes. The world is in our library: open the seed page and download it, then drop it in your Worlds folder.
