Dungeon katana looting and rapid autoswing slashes
Muramasa is recovered from Dungeon Locked Gold Chests with Golden Keys, or acquired from post-Skeletron Dungeon Crates. It strikes for 24 base melee damage with 3 knockback at Very fast swing speed (18 use time) while emitting faint blue sparkles. It possesses native autoswing and a rapid recovery rate, creating a defensive barrier of slashes that repels agile Dungeon enemies.
Night's Edge synthesis, combat handling, and reforges
The katana outpaces heavier pre-Hardmode swords in raw attack frequency, though modest knockback requires care against sturdy foes. It is a mandatory component in crafting Night's Edge at a Demon or Crimson Altar alongside the Blade of Grass, Volcano, and Light's Bane or Blood Butcherer. Legendary is the ideal reforge, augmenting weapon size, swing speed, damage output, and critical hit probability.
Trivia
- Named after historic Japanese swordsmith Sengo Muramasa, whose blades folklore held to hunger for battle.
- In early Terraria updates, Muramasa was one of the very few melee swords featuring built-in autoswing.
