Ash Wood Greaves

Lava resistant lumber crafting and lower body stats

Crafted at a Work Bench using 25 Ash Wood timber, Ash Wood Greaves furnish 2 defense for the leg armor slot. Wearing these leggings alongside an Ash Wood Helmet and Ash Wood Breastplate unlocks the Ash Wood set bonus, halving environmental lava contact damage and cutting 3.5 seconds off the resulting On Fire! burn debuff during accidental submersion.

Underworld timber comparisons and early spelunking value

While surface timber leggings like Wood Greaves offer only 1 defense, Ash Wood Greaves provide 2 defense, rivaling Iron Greaves without consuming any metallic ingots. Harvesting Ash Wood from subterranean trees throughout the Underworld layer allows proactive players to assemble 6 total base defense before challenging pre-Hardmode bosses, backed by protective lava mitigation that softens molten pool mishaps and assists in scouting ruined houses.

Trivia

• Ash Wood Greaves match the defense of Iron Greaves while requiring only harvested Underworld timber.
• These greaves cannot be sold to merchants for coins.
