The Drax is a motorized hybrid tool combining 200% pickaxe power and 110% axe power into a channeled drill. Crafting it requires defeating all three mechanical bosses, combining 18 Hallowed Bar ingots with one Soul of Fright, one Soul of Might, and one Soul of Sight at a Mythril Anvil or Orichalcum Anvil. Its formidable 200% pick power provides the player with their earliest opportunity to extract Chlorophyte Ore from the Underground Jungle.

While the Drax shares identical pick and axe capabilities with the Pickaxe Axe, its channeled drill mechanics distinguish it in practice. Because drills operate on fixed internal hit frequencies, they cannot benefit from melee swing speed buffs or mining speed enhancements. As a result, miners aiming for peak excavation speed often prefer the swinging pickaxe counterpart, while the Drax remains a compact channeled option that requires Godly or Demonic reforges for maximum performance.
