Crimson anvil forging and casting mechanics
Players construct the Fleshcatcher at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil using eight Crimtane Bar ingots. It does not demand Tissue Samples, meaning players can assemble it immediately after smelting ore harvested with explosives or obtained from defeating the Eye of Cthulhu. When cast into water, honey, or lava with proper tackle, it reels in catches smoothly.
Power comparison and pre-Hardmode progression
Offering 22% fishing power, this rod provides a 2% advantage over its Corruption counterpart, the Fisher of Souls at 20% fishing power. It outclasses the Reinforced Fishing Pole at 15% power and the starter Wood Fishing Pole at 5% power. Because fishing rods cannot receive combat reforges, this fixed rating remains its primary performance metric until players secure the Scarab Fishing Rod or quest rods.
Trivia
- Its fishing power is slightly higher than the Corrupt equivalent despite sharing the same bar cost.
- Fishing rods cannot receive prefixes from the Goblin Tinkerer.
