Sitting Duck's Fishing Pole

Traveling Merchant inventory and post-Skeletron timing

Sold randomly by the Traveling Merchant for 35 gold, this rod only enters his possible shop list after Skeletron is defeated. Endowed with 40% fishing power, it ranks as the strongest purchasable fishing pole in pre-Hardmode, requiring coin savings rather than quest completions to acquire.

High pre-Hardmode strength and rod comparisons

Surpasses the Mechanic's Rod (35% power) and Fiberglass Fishing Pole (30% power). Only the Golden Fishing Rod (50% power) and the Hardmode Hotline Fishing Hook (45% power) offer greater strength. Pairing it with Master Bait accelerates crate farming before battling the Wall of Flesh.
