Dropped by Vampire enemies during the Solar Eclipse event with a 2.86% drop rate in Classic mode, rising to 5.63% in Expert and Master modes. Between 7:30 PM and 4:30 AM in-game time, Moon Stone activates broad stat increases: +10% melee speed, +10% all damage, +2% critical strike chance, +1 HP/sec life regeneration, +4 defense, +15% mining speed, and +50% minion knockback, empowering all classes across the map.

Nocturnal boss encounters and celestial fusion

Because many prominent boss battles like The Twins, Skeletron Prime, and Empress of Light take place exclusively at night, Moon Stone provides an array of combat enhancements across nighttime arenas. It combines with Sun Stone at a Tinkerer's Workshop to craft the Celestial Stone, establishing permanent day-and-night stat buffs without time restrictions. Reforging to Menacing or Warding further reinforces its comprehensive bonuses for late-game combat against lunar threats.
