Shimmer

Rare pirate treasure and hit-based coin generation

Recovered from maritime raiders during Hardmode, the Lucky Coin provides a lucrative path to generating gold and silver. Ordinary pirate invaders drop it at a 0.05% rate, whereas the Pirate Captain drops it at 0.2% and the Flying Dutchman drops it at 6.67%. Striking an enemy gives a 20% chance to spawn 1 to 10 extra coins on the ground, accumulating steady bonus wealth during long fights.

Rapid-fire wealth farming and Coin Ring synthesis

This coin generation pairs well with rapid-hitting, low-damage weapons or weak minions against tanky cavern monsters. When set up in enclosed monster traps, it generates platinum coins steadily over time without requiring high-damage weapons. It combines with the Gold Ring at a Tinkerer's Workshop to forge the Coin Ring. Warding offers 4 defense during dense invasion farming, while Violent raises weapon swing speed for melee fighters to trigger more coin drops.

Trivia

  • Attacks dealing 0 damage can still trigger the coin drop effect upon striking enemy targets.
  • Tossing a Lucky Coin into Shimmer transmutes it into a Gold Ring.
