| Orichalcum Drill | 18 × Orichalcum Bar | Mythril Anvil |
Deep cavern tunneling and high pick power
The Orichalcum Drill provides high-tier mining capabilities early in Hardmode, forged from 18 Orichalcum Bar ingots at an anvil made of Mythril or Orichalcum. Possessing 165% pickaxe power, it penetrates hard cavern blocks and mines veins of Adamantite Ore and Titanium Ore. The drill activates as a channeled projectile that bores straight toward the cursor, striking targets for 17 base melee damage and 0.5 knockback while clearing rock.
Directional boreholes compared to swinging pickaxes
Compared to the Orichalcum Pickaxe, this drill suffers from a one-tile reach penalty and lacks a wide overhead swing to swat away bats. However, its continuous contact digs faster than an unbuffed pickaxe when clearing stone shafts. Drills cannot receive speed increases from melee buffs or the Light modifier, making Godly or Demonic the optimal reforge. Compared to the Mythril Drill, it breaks tough blocks with fewer hits thanks to higher pick power.
Trivia
- Drills have one tile less reach than corresponding pickaxes.
- It possesses sufficient pickaxe power to mine Adamantite and Titanium ores.
