| Orichalcum Pickaxe | 18 × Orichalcum Bar | Mythril Anvil |
Unlocking third tier hardmode ores with wide swings
Forged from 18 Orichalcum Bar items at a Mythril Anvil or Orichalcum Anvil, the Orichalcum Pickaxe unlocks tier three Hardmode minerals. Its 165% pickaxe power extracts Adamantite Ore and Titanium Ore from the deepest cavern depths. Each swing arcs overhead with 5 knockback and 17 base melee damage, brushing aside cave creatures and destroying cobwebs while excavating.
Melee speed scaling and excavation reach advantages
The Orichalcum Pickaxe holds distinct functional advantages over the Orichalcum Drill. It extends mining reach by one additional tile, making distant vein collection safer around lava hazards. Furthermore, swinging pickaxes scale directly with melee attack speed increases. Equipping a Mining Helmet, an Ancient Chisel, and obtaining the Light prefix accelerates block breaking speeds well past drill thresholds. Compared to the Mythril Pickaxe, it chips through resistant dungeon brick and cavern stone in fewer hits.
Trivia
- Swinging pickaxes benefit from melee speed bonuses, whereas drills mine at a fixed cadence.
- It requires 18 Orichalcum Bars to craft at a Hardmode anvil.
