| Palladium Drill | 18 × Palladium Bar | Iron Anvil |
Piercing hard stone to reach Mythril and Orichalcum
The Palladium Drill provides early Hardmode mining power, forged from 18 Palladium Bar pieces at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil. Featuring 130% pickaxe power, it cuts through tough cavern rock to extract Mythril Ore and Orichalcum Ore. Holding down the cursor directs a continuous boring projectile into blocks, dealing 12 base melee damage and 0.5 knockback to cave critters.
Drill mining rates versus swinging pickaxe utility
Compared to the Palladium Pickaxe, this drill suffers a one-tile reach penalty and does not swing overhead to knock away flying bats. In exchange, its channeled operation breaks stone faster than an unbuffed pickaxe during initial underground expeditions. Because drills cannot benefit from melee speed modifiers, the Light prefix is unobtainable; Godly or Demonic serves as the premier modifier. Compared to the Cobalt Drill, it breaks tough cavern blocks with fewer hits.
Trivia
- The Palladium Drill has sufficient pickaxe power to mine Mythril and Orichalcum ores.
- Drills feature one tile less range than swinging pickaxes.
