Daylight capture and bait potency
This colorful insect spawns across grassy Forest surfaces during clear daytime hours between 4:30 AM and 7:30 PM. Snaring one requires swinging a Bug Net, Golden Bug Net, or Lavaproof Bug Net as it flutters through the air. It supplies 35% bait power, establishing it as one of the strongest naturally occurring insects for early-game angling. Placing it inside an empty Bottle crafts a decorative Purple Emperor Butterfly Jar.
Economics and angling utility
Surplus specimens sell to merchants for 75 silver each, offering practical early income while clearing surface terrain. Compared to the common Monarch Butterfly which offers only 5% bait, this insect grants superior crate chances while reducing line snaps and consumption checks. Its bait rating matches an Enchanted Nightcrawler without needing fallen stars or crafting stations.
