Deerclops drop and armor-ignoring whirlwind vortices
Obtained as a drop from Deerclops with a 25% chance in Classic mode or 33.3% in Expert mode. Wielding this staff consumes 30 mana to summon a miniature spinning tornado. The projectile deals 13 magic damage, penetrates through solid tiles, bounces off walls, and pierces up to 12 enemy hits while ignoring 10 points of enemy defense.
Multi-segmented boss strategy and crowd control role
Because its vortex ignores base armor, Weather Pain performs remarkably well against resilient pre-Hardmode monsters and armored boss targets. It fulfills a similar tactical niche to Vilethorn and Crimson Rod, allowing spellcasters to trap grounded enemies inside persistent damage fields without direct line of sight. It stays useful throughout pre-Hardmode until replaced by Hardmode piercing magic. The best modifier is Mythical.
Trivia
- Weather Pain originates from the Don't Starve crossover, mirroring its whirlwind summoning function from the survival title.
- The summoned miniature tornado persists for roughly three seconds, repeatedly striking foes caught within its rotational path.
