Hallowed sand sharks during desert sandstorms
The Crystal Thresher is an apex predator that swims through sand in the Hallowed Desert during Hardmode Sandstorms. Possessing 450 life and 26 defense, it glides through sand blocks as if they were water, lunging into the air to strike with 54 contact damage in Classic, scaling to 108 in Expert and 162 in Master. Its crystalline dorsal fin glints through dust storms before it breaches.
Aerial tactics and light shard harvesting
Facing a Crystal Thresher requires staying airborne with wings or perching atop high platforms to avoid its ground charges. Once it leaps out of the sand, concentrated ranged fire knocks it backward. Defeating Crystal Threshers yields Light Shards at a 4% rate, Shark Fins at 12.5% for brewing water walking potions, and crispy Nachos at 3.33%.

- It represents the Hallow variant of the Sand Shark family, sharing its leaping AI with the Bone Biter.
