Subterranean sand sharks of the corrupt desert
The Bone Biter is an apex predator that swims through sand in the Corrupt Desert during Hardmode Sandstorms. Carrying 380 health and 24 defense, it glides through solid sand blocks like water, lunging out of dunes to ambush players with 60 contact damage in Classic, scaling to 120 in Expert and 180 in Master. Its fin breaches the sand surface before it leaps into the air.
Sandstorm aerial combat and shark fin harvests
Fighting the Bone Biter requires staying airborne with wings or grappled to high platforms, denying the beast an easy target on the sand surface. Once it leaps into the air, concentrated fire knocks it out of its lunge. Defeating Bone Biters yields Shark Fins at a 12.5% rate, Dark Shards at 4% for evil weapons, and tasty Nachos at 3.33% to boost player combat stats.

- It represents the Corruption variant of the Sand Shark family, sharing its behavior with the Flesh Reaver.
- It only surfaces and lunges aggressively when high-wind Sandstorms sweep across the desert.
