Swarming from shattered hives in the deep jungle
Bees are tiny, fast-moving aerial pests that emerge in swarms when subterranean beehive blocks are broken with a pickaxe or damaged by stray explosive detonations. With just 20 life in Classic (increasing to 24 in Expert and 36 in Master), an individual bee dies in a single clean hit. However, their erratic, buzzing flight path and small hitbox make them difficult to target with single-shot weapons, allowing dense clusters to quickly surround an explorer and inflict repeated contact strikes.
Surviving queen bee summons and honey traps
Aside from ambient hive disruptions, hostile bees spawn in large quantities during the Queen Bee encounter in the Underground Jungle. The queen periodically halts her flight to release bursts of bees directly at the player. Sweeping melee weapons like broadswords and flails, broad-arcing whips, or piercing spells clear these airborne swarms instantly, preventing players from being overwhelmed during tight subterranean battles.
Trivia
- Breaking natural hive blocks in the Underground Jungle frequently releases multiple hostile bees in an aggressive burst.
