Rescuing the high-altitude aeronaut
The Clumsy Slime is one of eight town slime companions that bring life and cheer to player settlements. Unlike standard aggressive slimes encountered in the wild, this friendly creature cannot harm players and seeks a peaceful place to settle down.
Finding the Clumsy Slime requires scanning the sky. It drifts through the Floating Island layer and upper atmosphere suspended beneath a red helium balloon as the Clumsy Balloon Slime. To rescue it, players must pop the balloon with arrows, bullets, or swinging tools without slaying the dangling slime beneath. Once the balloon bursts, the slime drops safely to solid ground, transforming into a cheerful purple town pet wearing a white head bandage.
Town slime cohabitation and pet interactions
Once freed, the Clumsy Slime automatically searches for shelter. Town slimes do not follow strict single-occupancy housing restrictions; they can share a room with any standard town NPC, meaning players do not need to construct a brand-new house to accommodate them.
Like other domesticated town companions, it possesses 250 life and 15 defense. It wanders harmlessly around town hallways, hopping across furniture and interacting with other residents. Approaching the slime and pressing the interact button lets players pet the little fellow, producing joyful floating heart icons.
The slime mitosis collection milestone
Welcoming town slimes into a village serves both aesthetic and practical purposes. Their presence counts toward the town population requirements needed to attract the Princess, and pet proximity provides slight mood boosts to neighboring human residents.
Rescuing the Clumsy Slime is a mandatory step toward unlocking The Great Slime Mitosis achievement, which requires discovering all eight distinct town slimes across the world. Building a skybridge or exploring floating islands with a Lifeform Analyzer makes spotting its floating balloon straightforward.
