Town NPCs charge less when they are happy: the game lowers their prices for loved and liked biomes and neighbours and raises them for disliked and hated ones.
Drops
Nerdy Slime drops nothing in the game's drop rules.
Royal gelatinous defeat and scholarly emergence
The Nerdy Slime is an intellectual blue town pet sporting a pair of oversized, thick-rimmed black spectacles. Unlike his wild and violent cousins who assault players on the grassy plains, this bookish droplet is entirely docile and eager to live among civil society.
To recruit this scholarly companion, players must defeat King Slime for the first time in that world. Whether the giant royal slime is conquered during a spontaneous Slime Rain event or summoned intentionally using a Slime Crown, defeating the monarch triggers the arrival of the Nerdy Slime during the next available daylight hours.
Bookish pet behaviors and urban housing integration
Upon his arrival, the Nerdy Slime seeks out an available living space. Like other domesticated slime pets, he does not require a private room of his own; he can comfortably cohabitate with any established town resident, sleeping peacefully on carpets or furniture without disrupting valid housing flags.
He holds 250 life and 15 defense. He spends his days hopping curiously around bookshelves, workshops, and village tables. Interacting with the Nerdy Slime lets players give him a fond pet, causing him to push up his spectacles with an endearing wobble and happy heart particles.
Slime crown summons and early recruitment
Because King Slime is easily crafted using a Gold or Platinum Crown combined with gel at a Demon or Crimson Altar, the Nerdy Slime is frequently the very first town pet recruited in a standard playthrough. Bringing him to town provides an instant morale boost to nearby residents and counts toward the full population needed to attract the Princess.
He is also an essential component of The Great Slime Mitosis achievement, which challenges players to recruit all eight unique town slimes across their world.
Trivia
- His Bestiary log humorously proclaims him to be the most scholarly and intellectual slime in the realm.
- Defeating King Slime guarantees his arrival without requiring any complex puzzles or rare items.
