Mutant chemistry during solar eclipses
Dr. Man Fly is a mutated scientist who appears during the Hardmode Solar Eclipse event. Combining human intelligence with fly physiology, he carries 500 life and 24 defense, delivering 65 contact damage in Classic, 130 in Expert, and 195 in Master. Rather than closing into melee range, he perches on platforms and hurls volatile alchemical Flasks of Toxic Gas that shatter across terrain, creating lingering clouds of damaging fumes.
Navigating toxic clouds and solar drops
The poison flasks thrown by Dr. Man Fly burst on impact, creating lingering hazardous zones that punish stationary players. Staying mobile with wings and dashing accessories prevents getting boxed into toxic fumes during chaotic eclipse waves. Defeating him yields Toxic Flask drops at a 2.5% rate, providing mages with an alchemical thrown weapon that mirrors his poisonous clouds, alongside the Butcher's Chainsaw and Solar Tablet fragments.
Trivia
- His appearance and alchemical flasks pay homage to the classic sci-fi horror film The Fly.
- The toxic gas clouds he creates linger for several seconds, dealing continuous area-of-effect damage.
