Drops
Leech drops nothing in the game's drop rules.
Serpentine parasites launched from the wall of flesh
The Leech is a segmented parasitic worm expelled in bursts from the ravenous mouths of the Wall of Flesh during the Underworld climax. With 60 life in Classic and 2 defense, it burrows through ash mounds and coils through open air at high speed. It pursues the fleeing player along serpentine flight paths, biting for 26 base contact damage.
Harvesting vital healing hearts during the underworld chase
Despite being a persistent nuisance, Leeches provide an essential lifeline during the underworld boss encounter. Slaying a Leech always yields a recovery heart, allowing battered explorers to restore health while sprinting down their bridge. Piercing weapons like the Minishark with Meteor Shot, the Demon Scythe, or broadswords slice through their multiple segments quickly. In Master mode, their health scales to 144 life with 78 damage.
Trivia
- Leeches always drop a healing heart upon death, offering sustain during the Wall of Flesh fight.
- They spawn continuously from the upper and lower mouths of the Wall of Flesh as it advances.
