Town NPCs charge less when they are happy: the game lowers their prices for loved and liked biomes and neighbours and raises them for disliked and hated ones.

Drops

Town Dog drops nothing in the game's drop rules.

Securing the canine permit through zoological milestones

Achieving 25% completion of the Bestiary unlocks the Dog License from the Zoologist for five gold coins, representing around one hundred and thirty-five cataloged entities. Reading the permit summons a loyal Town Dog to move into town the following morning, provided a valid town structure exists. Dogs bound excitedly across terrain toward open doors, wagging their tails in anticipation of friendly companionship.

The watchful hound guards the street with 250 health and 15 defense, inflicting 10 contact damage on invaders that approach the courtyard boundary.

Canine loyalty and town quarters

Like other town pets, the Town Dog requires no dedicated house of its own. It shares living quarters with any humanoid NPC without displacing their room banner or causing crowding penalties. Dogs patrol town pathways, bark at approaching monsters, and help suppress hostile monster spawn rates in the immediate vicinity of town buildings.

It counts toward the population requirements for regional Pylons, making it a valuable addition to frontier settlements needing extra resident tallies to keep teleporters running smoothly.

Breed diversity and joyful interactions

Interacting with the Town Dog plays a joyful petting animation with tail-wagging and heart particles. The dog can spawn as one of six distinct breeds: Labrador, Pit Bull, Beagle, Corgi, Dalmatian, or Siberian Husky. Reading an additional Dog License re-rolls the dog into another random breed, letting players pick their favorite companion hound with floppy ears or spotted coats.

Guard duties and perimeter scouting

Canine residents actively trot along town perimeters during daylight, investigating critters and standing guard near entrances. When hostile zombies or slimes approach the building boundary, the dog barks to alert players, serving as a vigilant protector of village borders and bringing unwavering loyalty to frontier forts. During rainy weather or storms, dogs curl up indoors near warm fireplaces until sunshine returns.
