Stalking while cloaked through contaminated ice caverns

Pigrons make their home deep in the subterranean ice biome once Hardmode triggers and corruption, crimson, or hallow converts the frozen stone. What makes them notorious is their ability to turn invisible and fly through solid tiles. While cloaked, they move silently through ice blocks, becoming visible only as they lunge forward to bite. Inflicting a hefty 70 contact strike in Classic (surging to 140 and 210 in Expert and Master), an unseen Pigron strike can surprise an unprepared spelunker. Using Hunter Potions reveals their ghostly silhouette through walls before they ambush.

Hunting bacon rations and pigron minecarts

Slaying Pigrons provides culinary and utility rewards. They drop Bacon at a 6.67% rate, which provides the top-tier food buff granting major improvements to all player combat and movement attributes. Hunters can also acquire the edible-themed Ham Bat melee club at 4%, the Pigron Kite at 4%, and the custom Pigron Minecart at 1%. They can also drop the Eater of Life painting at 0.5%.

Trivia

  • Pigrons appear in three different colorations matching the infecting biome: purple for Corruption, red for Crimson, and pink for Hallow.
  • A tamed Pigron mount can also be obtained separately by fishing in underground infected ice pools.
