Subterranean corruption worms and segmented burrowing

The World Feeder is a massive burrowing worm encountered deep in the Underground Corruption during Hardmode. Protected by 500 total health and 36 defense across its body links, it tunnels through solid ebonstone to ambush players with 70 contact damage in Classic, scaling to 140 in Expert and 210 in Master. Its subterranean burrowing creates rumbling stone particles that warn attentive spelunkers.

Harvesting cursed flames and piercing weapons

Fighting the World Feeder underground requires piercing weapons like the Dao of Pow, Crystal Vile Shard, or Daedalus Stormbow that strike multiple body links in a single swing. Slaying it guarantees Cursed Flames at 100% (yielding 2–5 flames), fueling Cursed Bullets, Cursed Arrows, and Flasks of Cursed Flames for ranger and melee builds, alongside the Meat Grinder (0.5%).

Trivia

  • It shares burrowing mechanics with the pre-Hardmode Devourer, but carries substantially higher life and damage.
  • Unlike surface worms, it only spawns deep within the subterranean Corruption layer.
