Black Studded Saddle

Zoologist catalogue threshold and equestrian gear

The Black Studded Saddle is sold by the Zoologist for 25 gold once the player fills 30% of the Bestiary, which requires logging at least one hundred and sixty-two creature entries. This bestiary threshold can be achieved during Pre-Hardmode by exploring surface biomes, delving into the Underground Desert, and discovering various cavern critters. Purchasing and using the saddle summons a dark stallion mount suitable for long-distance surface travel.

Gallop velocity and trampling combat

The dark horse mount accelerates up to a brisk galloping speed of forty miles per hour across open plains. While sprinting at top velocity, the horse grants the rider full knockback immunity and inflicts ramming damage on small foes, trampling surface slimes and zombies during nighttime travel. It also reduces fall damage by 50%, letting riders gallop across rugged cliffs and hills with reduced risk. It serves as an early alternative to minecart networks for rapid transit between town pylons.

Trivia
