The Black Spot

Pirate fleet reward and infinite aerial hovering

The Black Spot drops with a 25% drop rate from the Flying Dutchman during the Pirate Invasion in Master Mode. Activating this item summons a rideable miniature pirate ship that provides infinite flight and stationary hovering in mid-air. When flying horizontally at speed, the vessel delivers ramming impact damage to enemies in its path, dispersing flying swarms and protecting the pilot.

Sky island scouting and building platform mobility

Offering unrestricted flight without requiring wing accessories or rocket boots, the ship provides an accessible aerial mount early in Hardmode. Players frequently use it for surveying sky islands, mining high cavern ceilings, searching for floating ore deposits, and constructing sprawling boss arenas across the map. While later balance updates capped its acceleration during active combat, its hovering stability remains practical for building and mining tasks.
