Dungeon chest retrieval and dual-mode flail combat
The Blue Moon is looted from Locked Gold Chests within the Dungeon or obtained from Dungeon Crates after defeating Skeletron. Striking with 27 base melee damage and 6 knockback at Very slow speed (45 use time), the mace sheds vibrant blue light and sparks. Following the flail overhaul, players can hold the attack button to spin the heavy ball around themselves or release it forward as an armor-shattering thrown projectile.
Chokepoint defense, Sunfury comparison, and modifier rules
The weapon controls tight chokepoints and doorways by deflecting bats and skeletons with continuous spinning contact frames. It acts as the direct precursor to the underworld's Sunfury found in Shadow Chests. Because flails cannot receive attack speed modifiers, they are barred from the Legendary prefix; Godly or Demonic provides the highest combat benefit, maximizing damage and critical strike chance.
Trivia
- Its name references the astronomical event where two full moons appear within a single calendar month.
- Dropping the spun flail directly onto grounded foes inflicts continuous ticking contact damage.
