Shimmer

Dungeon curse immunity and talisman drops

Dropped with a 1% chance in Classic Mode (2% in Expert Mode) by Cursed Skull and Giant Cursed Skull in the Dungeon, or from Crimson Axe, Cursed Hammer, and Enchanted Sword in underground evil biomes. Equipping the amulet grants immunity to the Cursed debuff, preventing monsters from sealing your ability to attack with items, tools, and weapons during perilous underground encounters. Neutralizing the curse effect protects adventurers from becoming defenseless when swarmed by dungeon skull mobs.

Ankh shield construction and pre-hardmode farming

The Nazar is a critical defensive relic required for crafting the Countercurse Mantra alongside a Megaphone at a Tinkerer's Workshop, eventually leading to the Ankh Shield. Securing it in pre-Hardmode Dungeon corridors is widely recommended, as fewer enemy varieties dilute the spawn pool compared to post-Plantera Dungeon halls. Reforging to Warding bolsters defense against Dungeon monsters, while Menacing enhances outgoing player damage across all weapon types.

Trivia

  • Throwing a Nazar into Shimmer transmutes it directly into a Megaphone, aiding Ankh Shield crafting.
  • Modeled after the traditional Mediterranean amulet historically believed to protect against evil eye curses.
