Thermal block immunity and lava damage mitigation

Crafted at a Tinkerer's Workshop by combining an Obsidian Skull with an Obsidian Rose dropped by Fire Imp enemies in the Underworld. It grants immunity to burning tile contact damage from Meteorite and Hellstone blocks, while reducing contact damage from lava pools from 80 down to 35. It also reduces the duration of the On Fire! debuff inflicted by environmental hazards and hellish foes.

Underworld navigation and Molten Skull Rose progression

Crucial for mining Hellstone and establishing long combat bridges for the Wall of Flesh encounter without lethal lava missteps. It crafts directly into the Molten Skull Rose when fused with a Lava Charm or Magma Skull, forming a foundational branch toward Terraspark Boots. Reforging to Warding adds 4 defense, maximizing survivability against subterranean fiends and allowing safer exploration near cavern magma lakes.

Trivia

• The lava damage reduction applies before defense calculations, making lava significantly less threatening.
• Wearing the Obsidian Skull Rose does not grant lava immunity duration, only flat damage mitigation.
