Discovered inside underground Gold Chests within the deep Cavern layer near the Underworld border, or retrieved from fished Obsidian Crate and Hellstone Crate containers. Equipping the charm provides 7 seconds of lava immunity before the wearer begins taking environmental burning damage. A dedicated countdown meter appears above the character upon molten immersion, refilling gradually once the player steps out onto solid terrain or dives into deep water pools. Once submerged, the protection meter counts down second by second before true lava contact occurs, granting ample time to grapple upward or hook onto cave ceilings.

Transmutation options and molten boots progression

Dropping a Magma Skull into liquid Shimmer provides a reliable alternative method to acquire this protective trinket if cavern exploration yields empty chests. At a Tinkerer's Workshop, the charm combines with related gear into the Lava Waders or Molten Charm. It forms a vital branch for constructing Terraspark Boots, granting safe traversal across liquid hazards throughout Hardmode mining excursions and underworld boss arenas.
