Twelve sensor displays and data consolidation
Crafted at a Tinkerer's Workshop by combining four modular devices: the GPS, Fish Finder, Goblin Tech, and R.E.K. 3000. The PDA integrates twelve separate informational sensors into a single item. It reveals horizontal position, depth, compass orientation, local time, weather patterns, moon phases, nearby rare creatures, enemy counts, movement velocity, damage per second, nearby ores, and fishing power. It functions directly from the player's inventory without consuming an accessory slot.
Inventory compression and Cell Phone preparation
Carrying a PDA frees up eleven inventory slots that would otherwise be occupied by disparate gadgets from the Traveling Merchant, Angler quests, and Cavern enemy drops. It forms the final electronic core required to assemble the Cell Phone alongside a Magic Mirror. Because informational accessories share their readouts with nearby team members in multiplayer, a single explorer carrying a PDA informs the entire team.
Trivia
- The PDA acronym stands for Personal Digital Assistant, a class of mobile hand-held computers popular in the 1990s.
- Information displayed by the PDA remains active even when stored inside open personal storage like a Piggy Bank.
