Positioning telemetry and depth calculation
Crafted at a Tinkerer's Workshop by assembling a Compass, a Depth Meter, and either a Gold Watch or a Platinum Watch. Once assembled, the Global Positioning System displays exact horizontal east-west coordinates from world center, vertical elevation above or below sea level, and precise in-game time without requiring an open clock interface, making spatial orientation straightforward. Monitoring elevation reveals the transition boundary where surface plains give way to underground layers, helping players know when cavern-exclusive enemies and gemstones begin appearing.
Exploration utility and cell phone lineage
The readout functions from personal inventory slots, allowing players to survey cavern depths, locate floating sky islands, and track time for boss summon deadlines without wasting an accessory slot. Coordinates also sync across multiplayer teams in shared range, keeping adventuring parties synchronized. Combining the GPS with Goblin Tech, Fish Finder, and R.E.K. 3000 creates the multi-functional PDA, bringing players closer to the Cell Phone.
Trivia
- Surface level sits at zero depth, dividing underground exploration from surface and sky zones.
- Either gold or platinum watches can be used interchangeably during crafting without stat differences.
