Vertical wall descent and subterranean discovery

Found inside Wooden Chests scattered across the Surface and Underground layers, or retrieved from Wooden Crates reeled in through early fishing. Equipping Shoe Spikes allows characters to press against sheer vertical cliffs to slow their downward descent along stone or dirt faces. Dropping the spikes into a pool of Shimmer transmutes them into Climbing Claws, allowing players to acquire the paired counterpart on worlds where claw chests did not generate naturally.

Tiger Climbing Gear and ninja techniques

While solitary spikes only reduce descent velocity along vertical surfaces, equipping them together with Climbing Claws allows a character to grip sheer cliffs motionless and leap upward to scale vertical shafts. Combining both items at a Tinkerer's Workshop creates Tiger Climbing Gear, which consolidates wall-climbing utility into one slot before eventually merging with the Tabi and Black Belt to craft the Master Ninja Gear.

• Wearing both Shoe Spikes and Climbing Claws grants identical wall-clinging functionality to the forged Tiger Climbing Gear.
