The Tempest Staff is a summon weapon dropped by Duke Fishron with a 20% drop rate. It summons a hovering Sharknado minion that pursues hostile targets and fires mini shark projectiles at them. The Sharknado itself deals contact damage to monsters while rapidly launching sharks that travel in direct trajectories, piercing enemies on impact and inflicting 50 base summon damage.

High-mobility minion support and summoner gear pairing

Sharknados move swiftly across the screen, allowing them to keep pace with evasive bosses like the Empress of Light and Betsy. Unlike ground-bound summons, they engage flying targets across open airspace without terrain obstruction. Combining this staff with Spooky Breastplate, Papyrus Scarab, and a whip like Kaleidoscope maximizes minion count and shark impact damage. Because minions cannot deliver critical hits, the best modifier is Ruthless.
