The device broadcasts environmental readings without requiring an accessory slot and shares information with nearby party members across multiplayer servers. If submerged in Shimmer, it transmutes into a Fisherman's Pocket Guide, assisting collectors in assembling full informational sets. At the Tinkerer's Workshop, combining the radio with a Sextant and a Fisherman's Pocket Guide crafts the Fish Finder, a prerequisite for the PDA and Cell Phone.
