Luminescent gelatin of the underground hallow
The Illuminant Slime is a crystalline gelatinous monster that inhabits the Underground Hallow during Hardmode. Carrying 180 life and 30 defense, it bounces with high agility across cavern rock, delivering 70 contact damage in Classic, scaling to 140 in Expert and 210 in Master. Its translucent purple body emits a natural radiant glow, making it easily visible through dark cavern corridors and unlit chasm walls.
Cavern mobility and blessed drops
Unlike weaker surface slimes, the Illuminant Slime hits with substantial force and performs high leaps that clear wide chasms. Striking it with long-range weapons like the Megashark or Crystal Vile Shard keeps it at bay before its bouncing leaps close the distance. Slaying Illuminant Slimes yields Gel (100%) alongside Souls of Light when defeated within the cavern layer, fueling early Hardmode boss summons and anvil crafts.
Trivia
- Its body radiates light, illuminating surrounding cavern terrain without requiring torches.
- Like other Hallow enemies, defeating it in the Cavern layer has a chance to drop a Soul of Light.
