Enemy Banner: Lamia Banner

By the time glowing red eyes appear in the darkness of the desert caves, it is already too late. The lamias have found their prey.

Slithering through subterranean desert sands

Lamias haunt the Underground Desert once a world enters Hardmode. Moving with serpentine grace across sand and sandstone blocks, they scale steep slopes with ease and pursue players aggressively. With 350 life in Classic (doubling to 700 in Expert and 1,050 in Master), they possess sturdy defensive stats with 28 defense. Contact with their coiled bodies inflicts 52 damage in Classic, scaling higher in Master, making narrow sandstone caverns dangerous without high-knockback melee weapons or piercing magic.

Acquiring serpentine costume pieces and sun masks

Spelunkers hunting throughout underground desert catacombs prize Lamias for their unique cosmetics and collectibles. They drop the golden Sun Mask vanity headpiece at a 4% rate, alongside the Snake Band vanity accessory at 2.5%. Furthermore, players can assemble the full Lamia vanity outfit consisting of the Lamia Mask, Lamia Wraps, and Lamia Tail, each dropping at a 0.83% chance.

Trivia

  • Lamias appear in two visual forms: Light Lamia in pure or hallowed sands, and Dark Lamia in corrupted or crimson desert caverns.
  • Their serpentine bodies allow them to slither up slopes that would obstruct normal walking enemies.
