Sand Slime

Sand Slime in Terraria

Enemy Banner: Sand Slime Banner

Deserts are very dry, but the Sand Slime seems to have successfully adapted to the harsh conditions by becoming a pile of living sand.

Bestiary entry and numbers read from Terraria 1.4.5.8 itself.

Camouflaged desert blobs bounding across scorching dunes

The Sand Slime is an indigenous ooze found hopping across surface and underground Desert biomes. Coated in coarse golden sand with 50 life and 5 defense, it deals 15 contact damage in Classic, scaling to 30 in Expert and 45 in Master. Its coloration blends naturally into surrounding dunes, allowing it to sneak up on explorers harvesting cactus or mining fossils.

Harvesting gel amidst hostile sandstone caverns

Sand Slimes exhibit slightly faster lateral hops than standard forest slimes, meaning newly arrived explorers should use sweeping broadswords or spears to maintain distance. Slain Sand Slimes drop Gel at a 100% chance (2–3 units) to fuel exploration lights, alongside a rare 0.013% rate for the early Slime Staff minion.

Trivia

  • Sand Slimes generate frequently in both the surface Desert and upper Underground Desert chambers.
