Tundra chest discoveries and frozen traction

Located inside Frozen Chest containers throughout the underground tundra or fished from Boreal Crate catches, Ice Skates provide full movement control on frozen terrain. Walking or sprinting on ice blocks normally causes slippery deceleration and sluggish turns, but these skates remove all slide friction. Crucially, they also prevent fragile thin ice sheets from collapsing under the player's weight, keeping explorers safe from icy subterranean plunges. Negating ice slipperiness allows players to dodge rapidly without suffering delayed directional inputs.

Frostspark boots and diving gear combinations

At a Tinkerer's Workshop, Ice Skates combine with Lightning Boots to craft Frostspark Boots, passing along complete ice traction and extra running speed. They also fuse with Diving Gear to construct Arctic Diving Gear, providing extended underwater breathing and illumination in cold depths. Building long platforms of ice blocks paired with skate traction provides a rapid runway for boss arena skirmishes.

Trivia

• Without Ice Skates, landing on thin ice sheets breaks them immediately and drops the character into freezing water.
• Frostspark Boots inherit the skate mechanics, allowing speedy sprints across ice without drifting or sliding.
