Scattering offspring released from ruptured mother slimes
Baby Slimes do not spawn naturally in the wild; instead, they emerge when a Mother Slime is slain in the Cavern layer. Packing 30 health and 4 defense, these miniature gelatinous creatures deal 13 contact damage in Classic, scaling to 26 in Expert and 39 in Master mode. Their small stature and unpredictable hops make them tricky to hit with narrow arrows.
Managing rapid hops in cramped subterranean shafts
Because multiple Baby Slimes scatter at once, having a broadsword with wide arcing swings or a piercing spear helps clear them quickly. Defeating a Baby Slime yields Gel at a 100% chance (1–2 units) and offers a 0.01% rate to drop the coveted Slime Staff summon weapon.
Trivia
- Baby Slimes possess higher jump frequencies than their parent, darting quickly over uneven cavern stones.
