Cursed flame turrets in the subterranean corruption
The Clinger is a stationary floral monstrosity that sprouts from ebonstone walls in the Underground Corruption during Hardmode. Anchored by a fleshy stalk, it carries 320 life and 30 defense, striking for 70 contact damage in Classic, 140 in Expert, and 210 in Master. Its primary danger lies in its ranged attack: it sprays intense streams of cursed green flames that illuminate dark caves and ignite players.
Countering cursed inferno and harvesting flames
The cursed fireballs launched by Clingers inflict the Cursed Inferno debuff, causing persistent health drain that cannot be extinguished by jumping into water. Piercing ranged weapons like the Megashark or Daedalus Stormbow allow spelunkers to dispatch them from beyond their flame range. Defeating Clingers guarantees Cursed Flames at 100% (yielding 2–5 flames), alongside the Meat Grinder at 0.5%.
Trivia
- It represents the Hardmode Corruption equivalent to the Crimson's Ichor Sticker.
- Unlike the Man Eater, the Clinger relies primarily on ranged flame projectiles rather than snapping bites.
