Cannon volleys and privateer marksmanship
The Pirate Captain leads the buccaneer crew during the Hardmode Pirate Invasion, bringing heavy firepower and resilience to the raid. Armed with 3,000 life and 30 defense, he maintains firing lines with pistol shots and portable cannon fire that inflict 70 contact damage in Classic, scaling to 140 in Expert and 210 in Master. His cannonballs fly in arcing trajectories, bouncing off walls and shattering on contact with defenders.
Spectral haunting and golden booty
Slaying the Pirate Captain is only half the battle: when his physical body collapses, his enraged ghost erupts from the corpse as a vengeful spirit. The ghostly apparition floats through solid blocks, pursuing players relentlessly until dispelled by magical or ranged fire. Defeating him offers the highest chance within the event to secure rare treasure, including the Coin Gun (0.1%), Lucky Coin (0.2%), Cutlass (2%), and Pirate Staff (0.4%).
Trivia
- Upon death, his lingering ghost spawns immediately and passes through solid blocks to attack.
- He fires both direct pistol bullets and arcing cannonballs that bounce off terrain.
