Gelatin crystals in underground pearlstone fissures
Summoning Queen Slime requires unearthing a rare Gelatin Crystal from the depths of the Underground Hallow. These vibrant gems grow naturally on Pearlstone and Pink Ice blocks alongside ordinary Crystal Shards, distinguishable by their pulsating pastel rainbow shimmer and dynamic color shifts on your map.
Taking the crystal to the surface Hallow and consuming it at any time of day or night summons the iridescent sovereign. While the summoning item must be activated within the Hallow, the boss does not become enraged or despawn if you lead her into neighboring biomes, meaning you can construct your battle arena stretching across adjacent purity terrain.
Crystal spikes, bounce slams, and royal minion swarms
In Classic mode Queen Slime begins the battle grounded, boasting 18,000 life, 26 defense, and a base collision punch of 60. Her ground phase features heavy bouncing strides, pauses to execute crushing downward slams, and sprays of bouncing crystal spikes that ricochet off terrain.
Crucially, her strikes dislodge three dangerous types of crystalline minions. Crystal Slimes fire sharp projectile darts straight upward, Bouncy Slimes fling bouncy pink gel balls, and Heavenly Slimes sprout feathered wings to track your position through the air. If you ignore these minions, they rapidly turn the battlefield into an impassable hazard field, making piercing armaments like the Daedalus Stormbow, Shadowflame Knife, or piercing magic spells indispensable for controlling the crowd.
Sprouting wings and aerial bombardment in the second phase
When her life total drops to half, Queen Slime unfurls a massive pair of crystalline wings and takes flight permanently. In Expert mode, her resilience expands to 28,800 life and a punishing 120 collision strike, escalating to 36,720 life and 180 damage in Master mode.
Her flight pattern combines smooth hovering with aggressive downward swoops. From the air, she fires rapid shotgun-style spreads of crystal darts directly toward your character. Because these projectiles travel fast and fan out over wide areas, staying grounded is dangerous; utilizing mid-air mobility through Hardmode wings, an amphibian boot boost, or a Gravitation Potion lets you weave between projectile fans while keeping your crosshairs trained on her winged form.
Crystal assassin armor, the dissonance hook, and the winged mount
Queen Slime yields an exceptional variety of early Hardmode gear. She drops the universal Crystal Assassin armor set in individual components: the hood at 33.3%, the shirt at 33.3%, and the pants at 33.3%. Wearing the completed set provides balanced damage bonuses across all combat classes and grants an omnidirectional evasive dash.
Summoners seek her Blade Staff at 25%, which conjures swift enchanted daggers that ignore high enemy defense. She also drops the Gelatinous Pillion mount at 25%—a winged slime mount offering temporary flight, gliding, and high-velocity downward bounces—alongside the Hook of Dissonance at 33.3%, which instantly teleports your avatar directly to the hooked surface. In Expert mode, the Treasure Bag awards Volatile Gelatin, an accessory that shoots damaging explosive slime balls at nearby threats.
Trivia
- Unlike King Slime, Queen Slime grows wings and takes flight throughout her second phase once reduced below half health.
- Summoning her requires using a Gelatin Crystal found in the Underground Hallow.
