Drops
Arms Dealer drops nothing in the game's drop rules.
Firearms inventory and arrival criteria
The Arms Dealer moves into an empty town room as soon as any player holds a firearm or bullets in their inventory. Cracking open a Shadow Orb in the Corruption for a Musket or a Crimson Heart for The Undertaker is the customary trigger. Weapons like flare guns do not satisfy his criteria, so obtaining a genuine powder-burning firearm is mandatory.
He backs up his tough talk with 250 life and 15 defense. During monster invasions and nighttime sieges, he pulls out a Flintlock Pistol to blast approaching threats, upgrading his weapon to a rapid-firing Minishark once the world transitions into Hardmode.
Munitions, illegal parts, and weapon stocks
His shop provides standard ammunition including Musket Balls and Silver Bullets, which saves players countless hours of hand-crafting ammo at an anvil. He also stocks the Flintlock Pistol and the iconic Minishark, an automatic weapon that chews through bosses during early progression.
After sunset, his catalog expands to include Illegal Gun Parts, an essential material for crafting the Megashark and Flamethrower. Entering Hardmode unlocks the Shotgun and Empty Bullets for brewing custom rounds like Crystal Bullets or Cursed Bullets. Setting up his shop in a Graveyard adds the Quad-Barrel Shotgun, delivering heavy close-quarters spread.
Arid gunsmith quarters and munitions discounts
Ammunition expenses scale rapidly once rapid-fire firearms like the Minishark enter combat service. Checking the preference table above shows his full biome and neighbor multipliers.
Setting up his workshop in the Desert alongside the Nurse provides maximum price reductions on bullets, Illegal Gun Parts, and the Minishark. This pairing also activates the Desert Pylon, creating a swift transit stop for desert exploration while keeping his firearm stock priced at steep discounts. Stocking up on hundreds of Empty Bullets early in Hardmode lets players brew specialized rounds like Crystal or Ichor Bullets without delay.
Trivia
- He defends himself with a Flintlock Pistol in pre-Hardmode and upgrades to a Minishark in Hardmode.
- He will only move in once a player acquires an authentic powder-burning gun, ignoring flare guns.
